Senator Allen Introduces SB 894 to provide state-backed, low-interest loans for homeowners to retrofit homes and better protect themselves from wildfire

SACRAMENTO – One year after the devastating Los Angeles Fires, Senator Ben Allen (D-Pacific Palisades) introduced first-of-its kind legislation to create a state-backed, low-interest loan program that makes wildfire safety upgrades achievable for more households.

SACRAMENTO – As we continue to reflect on one year since the LA Fires, Senator Ben Allen (D-Pacific Palisades) joined Senator Sasha Renée Pérez (D-Pasadena) to honor the 31 lives lost in the terrible disaster.

“For many in our communities, the pain of the fires has not abated,” said Senator Allen. “This is especially true for the friends and families of the 31 people who did not survive the fire. We honor their memory today and maintain our commitment to rebuilding our communities as we move into 2026.”

SACRAMENTO, CA – California wildfire survivors will now face one less burden on their road to recovery as Governor Gavin Newsom today signed Senate Bill 495, authored by Senator Ben Allen (D-Pacific Palisades) and sponsored by Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara.

SACRAMENTO – SB 663, authored by Senator Ben Allen (D-Pacific Palisades), was signed into law today to deliver needed property tax relief for survivors of the 2025 LA Fires, as well as the 2024 Mountain and Franklin Fires.

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ben Allen (D-Santa Monica) celebrated the signing of SB 766, the California Combating Auto Retail Scams (CARS) Act, in order to increase affordability and reduce the risk of purchasing a used vehicle in California.
