Senator Ben Allen to Hold Hearing on California Film and Television Tax Credit Program

Sacramento, CA – The legislature’s Joint Committee on the Arts, chaired by Senator Ben Allen (D-Santa Monica), will hold an oversight hearing on the California Film and Television Tax Credit Program on Wednesday, March 29, at 1:30 in the State Capitol.  The hearing will look at production trends throughout the state.

Background:  AB 1839, signed into law in 2014, increased tax incentives to $330 million annually for the California Motion Picture Tax Credit Program, and provided additional incentives to increase production in areas of the state that are less often utilized. A diverse cross-section of the industry will be represented at the hearing to discuss the program’s effectiveness with an emphasis on below-the-line work force and career development opportunities.
