SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Ben Allen (D-Santa Monica) released the following statement in response to Congressional Republicans’ recent unprecedented attempt to bypass their parliamentarian’s ruling in order to unwind California’s Clean Air Act waivers.  Allen is the Co-Chair of the Legislature’s Environmental Caucus. 

“Congressional Republicans are breaking their own rules so as to strip our state of its decades-old right to protect our citizens from smog and other air pollution.  Republican and Democratic administrations alike have granted California clean-air waivers for years, and our state has led the way on clean air protections that has saved hundreds of thousands of lives.  It’s an outrage and should be condemned. Suffice to say, we will be fighting this.”
