SACRAMENTO- California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D- Los Angeles), Chair of the Senate Rules Committee, has announced the following Rules Committee Appointments:

Ruben A. Osorio, a Democrat from Chula Vista, has been appointed to the Acupuncture Board. Mr. Osorio is a Regional Sales Supervisor for Dion International Trucks. The effective date of this appointment will be June 1, 2017. His term end date shall be June 1, 2021. Compensation shall be $100 per diem and expenses.

SACRAMENTO – On Tuesday, in a bipartisan vote of 10 to 1, the Senate Energy & Utilities Committee approved legislation to extend and modify The Clean Energy Jobs Act, which will continue funding to school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and community colleges to support energy efficiency and alternative energy projects with the goal of reducing operating costs and improving health and safety in public schools.

President Trump has vowed to punish so-called “sanctuary cities.” He claims sanctuary policies make cities more dangerous.

The President needs to read up. He is wrong about immigrants and wrong about what makes our communities safer. Recent research by a UC San Diego professor shows sanctuary counties are not only safer than comparable non-sanctuary jurisdictions but are also better off economically.
