Los Angeles – At a free Home and Housing Expo, community leaders will mark the fourth time the Montebello Housing Development Corporation (MHDC), a local HUD certified agency and a National Council of La Raza (NCLR) affiliate, is the recipient of a substantial grant to help with down-payment assistance for hardworking families.
“A permanent home providing a firm footing in life is now possible for hundreds of low-income to modest-income working families who will qualify for $1.5 Million in available dollars from the State Department of Housing and Community Development,” said Senator Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles). WHAT: Free Community Home Expo and Housing Fair sponsored by Bank of America
WHY: - Learn about the $1.5 Million awarded in loan assistance for first time home buyers and how you can qualify.
- Meet with housing experts, ask professionals, talk to HUD certified housing counselors and learn about resources and information from various city, state and federal housing agencies and services provided from the offices of elected officials.

“These funds will allow MHDC to continue our work to help local working families purchase their first home in Los Angeles County,” stated Robert Monzon, President and CEO of MHDC.
Since 1991, MHDC has provided home education services to more than 50,000 clients, placed more than 640 families in a home, facilitated more than $40 million in private mortgage loans and $8.15 Million in second mortgage loans. Since the housing crisis began in 2007, MHDC has also provided foreclosure prevention counseling to more than 3,000 clients through all of Los Angeles County. All these services are provided free of charge.
MHDC serves all the greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. MHDC provides services and information in English and Spanish, as well as Armenian and Chinese.
The CA Department of Housing and Community Development provides grants to local public agencies and nonprofit developers to assist individual households through deferred-payment loans. During the past 19 years, MHDC has held numerous housing fairs in collaboration with local, state and national leaders throughout Los Angeles County from East Los Angeles to Long Beach and from Pasadena to Pomona. MHDC has held housing workshops, classes and home rescue fairs in partnership with State Legislators, Members of Congress and Los Angeles County Supervisors.
