(Los Angeles, CA) – Praising Labor and the Grocers for their diligent work in finding a settlement to the contentious strife that highlighted recent negotiations, Senator Kevin de León hailed the agreement announced today as a victory for all Californians.

“Our current economy makes it more imperative than ever that we have as little disruption as possible with employment,” said De León. “It is pleasing for hard-working people and employers everywhere that a strike was averted. It is this type of cooperative effort that must be highlighted. UFCW Local 770 made sacrifices to see this through and I want to recognize their foresight to preserve jobs and livelihoods for its members and their families.”

Officials with the United Food and Commercial Workers reached a three-year labor contract with Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons, averting a grocery strike that would have idled more than 54,000 workers across Southern California.
