Today, California took one step closer to securing a 100% clean energy future.
Earlier this morning, I presented SB 100 to the Assembly Committee on Utilities and Energy for the second time, a bill I authored to commit our state to generating 100% of its electricity from renewable energy sources by 2045.
Clean energy sources like the sun, the wind, and the heat of the earth are free to use, they'll never run out and most importantly, they won't poison our children or our planet. Shifting from fossil fuels to sunshine has already put countless Californians to work, and this push will create a wellspring of new, good-paying jobs that won't dry up. That's why it's time to abandon the expensive fossil fuels that are so costly and dangerous to extract.
After more than a year of fighting, we've finally pushed SB 100 through committee and onto the Assembly floor for a critical final vote. We're closer than ever to setting California on a bold path to building a clean energy economy that gives Californians the clean air, clear water, and good-paying jobs they deserve. With you on our side, I'm confident we can get it to the governor's desk.
Today was a huge victory for all Californians, and it wouldn't have been possible without your commitment to a cleaner, brighter future for our state. So today, and every day, thank you for your unwavering support.
