Sen. Hernandez’ Bill Ends Use of Preexisting Condition Exclusions, Excessive Rates
 
Sacramento, CA – A bill by Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D. (D – West Covina), Chair of the Senate Health Committee, that puts in place for California the vital consumer protections and reforms included as part of the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by Governor Brown today.  The legislation, SB X1 2, was introduced as part of the special session on health care called for by the Governor during his State of the State Address in January.

On March 2, 2013, 7th-12th grade girls attending the Mountain View School District, El Monte City School District and the El Monte Union High School District will participate in "Inspire", a Young Women's Leadership Day.  The Young women from our community will have the opportunity to be inspired by local leaders who will share their secrets to success.  The keynote speaker is Dr. Maribel Garcia, Superintendent of the El Monte City School District. This Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 event will be held at the Grace T.

Introduces Amendment to California Constitution

West Covina, CA --- State Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D. introduced an amendment to California’s Constitution this week, SCA 5, which would repeal those portions of Proposition 209 that prohibit the consideration of race in recruitment, admissions, and retention programs by state universities and colleges.
