SACRAMENTO – The Senate Committee on Public Employment and Retirement today approved a bill by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León to implement a retirement-savings plan for private-sector employees – primarily low- and middle-income earners.

The measure, SB 1234, aims to benefit the nearly 7 million workers in California who do not have access to retirement plans through their jobs, placing them at high-risk of retiring into poverty.

SACRAMENTO –The California Secure Choice Retirement Savings Investment Board voted unanimously Monday on final recommendations on how to structure the Secure Choice Retirement Savings Plan, a landmark workplace retirement-savings program called a model for the nation by the New York Times. Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) then announced plans to amend his original legislation that created the program, Senate Bill 1234. Press conference video.
