SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D–Los Angeles) issued the following statement today in response to President Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the historic 2015 Paris Agreement:

SACRAMENTO – The California State Senate today passed Senate Bill 100 by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles), which set California on a path to 100 percent clean renewable energy by the year 2045.  The measure was approved on a 25-13 vote.

SACRAMENTO – The California State Senate voted today to pass SB 100, a bill that puts California on a path to 100 percent clean renewable energy by the year 2045.  Press availability to be held following the vote. 

Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D – Los Angeles) and Senators will also address reports that President Trump plans to pull the United States out of the landmark Paris Climate Accord.

SACRAMENTO – A bipartisan supermajority in the California Senate today approved Senate Bill 5 (de León), which would put before state voters in November 2018 a $3.5 billion bond measure for flood protection, water supply reliability, and new parks and open space.

SACRAMENTO – The California State Senate voted today to approve the Preserve California legislative package, which insulates the state from dangerous rollbacks in federal environmental regulations and public health protections, shields public lands from exploitation, and protects whistleblowers and public scientific data.

SACRAMENTO  – State Treasurer John Chiang and Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) said today that California’s Secure Choice program remains on track to provide retirement security to nearly 6.8 million private-sector workers who do not have access to a retirement savings plan from their employer.

The California Secure Choice program stands on firm legal and statutory ground despite President Trump, Congressional Republicans and Wall Street’s efforts to end retirement programs administered at the state level.
