RELEASE: Senator De León Pledges $2,500 to Bryan Stow Fund Calls for an End to Fan Violence

Monday, April 11, 2011

(Sacramento, CA) Today, Senator Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) challenged his Senate colleges to call for an end to baseball fan violence and donated $2,500 to The Bryan Stow Fund.  Bryan Stow, a father and Santa Clara County AMR Paramedic, is in a medically induced coma after a horrific assault at the Giants-Dodgers opening game in Los Angeles a little over a week ago.

“I enjoy light-hearted rivalry, but as fans we must call for an end to reprehensible violence and ugly confrontations,” said Senator De León. “The Giants will make an initial $10,000 contribution to The Bryan Stow Fund, and I encourage all fans and Senators to give what they can.”

The Bryan Stow Fund to benefit Stow and his children has been established through the San Francisco Police Credit Union, specifically serving members of the EMS community.
