SACRAMENTO – Highlighting the need for a major culture change, Senators Kevin de Leόn (D-Los Angeles) and Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) secured the votes necessary for Senate Bill 967 to pass the California State Senate. This legislation will require California colleges and universities to address campus sexual violence by requiring them to adopt consistent survivor-centered sexual assault response policies and protocols that follow best practices and professional standards. The Senate floor vote on May 29, 2014, was 27 ayes – 4 noes.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate approved legislation to significantly strengthen the gift limitations under the Political Reform Act today, Monday, May 19, 2014, by passing Senate bill 1443 by Senator Kevin de Leόn (D-Los Angeles). The Senate floor vote was 34 ayes – 0 noes.

SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Senate Bill 270 (Padilla/De León/Lara) will be heard by the Assembly Natural Resources Committee in State Capitol, Room 447.

In January, Senator Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) crafted the SB 270 compromise which secured the votes necessary for passage in the Senate. Under aggressive opposition from out-of-state manufacturers, Wednesday’s hearing is the first time the bill will be heard in the Assembly.
